a place to vent about the things going on...

I sent my children back to school in -15* weather. OMG! This is Spokane, Washington ~ Not Colorado! Our high temp today is supposed to be 10*, low -21*. How unreal is that?? The punchline of the whole report, the snowstorm comes tomorrow. Yes tomorrow they are expecting another 3-6 inches.

The good news is that I have the house to myself again! Whoohooo! 2 weeks of Christmas vacation just seems so long at the end. Unlike summer they get so bored during the winter. DD1 did some of the typical teen things such as going to the mall and spent some time with her friends from West Valley. She loves Rogers but moving, new school, its still hard on her. I'm glad that I can still keep the friendships she made at both East Valley and West Valley going strong. DD1 is so popular that I can't keep up with her, but I try!

I live in Spokane too ~grins~ I own a business and I am in the phone book. At night, I deliver pizza in nothing but shorts and a T-Shirt ~laughs~ Last night it was -10 and it was the first time I have been that cold. We are well over due for a bad winter. We have had several wimpy winters and some good summers. Remember the blizzard of 89'? The snow was 4' high and with 50mi/hour winds we got down to -40. I think we are going to have that kind of winter again bunny heehee. We have had the perfect conditions for another ice storm too. We have just been very lucky so far that things have not matched up just perfect to shut Spokane down for a week again LOL.

I live in Ontario, Canada. I am actually getting scared, because we've had zero snow all winter. (It's not unusal to get dumped on in October.) I've only had to break out the winter coat once so far. I hate to put the whammy on myself, but I'm worried that this means I'm in for a hellish couple of months. Luck to you, too.

OccultPizza: Yikes! Do I ever remember '89. I was pregnant, cold and miserable. Same with ice storm. I am not looking forward to more snow!! My youngest was actually mad that she had to go to school 30 min late the last 2 days, I am afraid of a total meltdown if they close it. If we do get the 8-12 inches they are expecting will Spokane shut down again? It has been a while but I have enjoyed the milder winters. Yesterday on the news they showed a comparison with a date in July. There was 124 degree spread between then and yesterday. That just seems sick and wrong! With this weather, I am sure you are busy at night! We are one of the cliche' families that call for pizza when it gets like this - but we always tip well so no complaints . Of course now I will wonder if my pizza gets delivered in shorts and a t-shirt.

NickyG: So far so good in Ontario. Hopefully the snow won't fall too hard on you up there! It has already began coming down again here, we are expecting a major storm all day today and into tomorrow. Yuk!

Snowing today too. My son was happy that he didn't have to go to school till 9:30 yesterday and was complaining cause it was snowing twice as hard and he had too be there at the regular time ~chuckles~ I think girls are just more social than guys and that is why they like school more ~smiles~ It's been a while since I have seen snow burms in Spokane too ~grins~
